Attend the 2009 Small Business Awards

GreaterFindlayInc. (GFI) and the Findlay Publishing Company will present
the 46th Annual Small Business Awards 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, October 15, at the Winebrenner Theological Seminary located at 950 N. Main St., Findlay.

The awards ceremony will spotlight the men and women who, through their independent entrepreneurial spirit, play a vital role in building the Greater Findlay community and economy.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Gary Zulauf, founder of TIPS, Technology and IP Services. Zulauf’s presentation will focus on putting a value on intellectual property.

Former Vice President of Manufacturing and Advanced Technology for Honeywell International, Zulauf has successfully introduced many new and improved products over the past 30 years including electromechanical switches, automotive sensors, ceramic products and processes and various automotive ignition and filtration products. He has co-authored 20 U.S. patents with several still pending. In addition, Zulauf has successfully licensed product and process technology for Honeywell around the world.

Following the presentation, twelve small business awards, sponsored by local organizations, will be presented to qualifying recipients:

  • Six Disciplines Northwest Ohio - Small Business of the Year
  • WFIN-WKXA-106.3 The Fox - Women in Business Champion of the Year
  • First Federal Bank - Young Entrepreneur of the Year
  • Fifth Third Bank - Downtown Champion of the Year
  • Citizens National Bank - Agriculture Enterprise Champion of the Year
  • Commercial Savings Bank - Professional of the Year
  • Marathon Petroleum Company LLC - Diversity Small Business Champion of the Year
  • Time Warner Cable Business Class - Family-Owned Small Business of the Year
  • The Companies of Tall Timbers Industrial Park - Small Business Exporter of the Year
  • “New” PRO-TEC Coating Co. - Small Business Manufacturing Excellence
  • Huntington Bank - ATHENA Award
Additional honors to be announced at the ceremony include The Hancock Leadership Alumni Association Distinguished Leadership Award, The United Way Community Partner Award and the Hancock County Convention & Visitors Bureau “Our Spirit Shows” Hospitality Award.
